HER SIDE: Tony and I first met at work. Tony was the new kid and sat by himself in the corner during breaks. I felt sorry for him, so one day I decided to sit with him in his tiny, lonely corner. From there on, Tony started timing his breaks with mine, and we got the pleasure of being friends first. On September 18th, 2016, I was determined to go see Andrew Luck play against the Denver Broncos. I decided to ask Tony, but told him it wasn't a date, more like a going away present since he was moving back to California. He laughed, agreed, and showed up two hours late as I waited at a downtown Wal Greens' parking lot. When he showed up, I made fun of him for dressing up in a long sleeve button down shirt instead of a jersey. It was our first time attending an NFL game and it turned out to be one of the best nights ever. We had so much fun, we spent the last two weeks together with no intentions of continuing the relationship. Tony moved back and worked Mon thru Fri Day shift. I was still working swing shifts on the weekends. We soon realized that we wanted to be together despite the distance and opposite work schedule. We slept on the phone together every night. We talked on our way to and from work. After three long years of long distance: flying back and forth, Tony moved back to Colorado, and we have been together ever since. It's funny to think this all happened because I wanted to see Andrew Luck play against my favorite team. But ended up finding the love of my life.
HIS SIDE: When I graduated from college, I was lucky to receive a job offer from Ameristar casino resort and spa. Little did I know, the job offer I received and accepted would only last a few short months, but one of the employees I met would change my life.
While I was working at Ameristar, the only peace and quiet I would get was on my 30-minute break. That was also very short lived, as this loud, obnoxious, nosey, little lady kept coming to sit next to me and talk to me every break I got. One thing led to the next and we became good friends. Eventually I decided to put in my two weeks so I could move back to California to be closer to my family. As fate would have it, Jennifer called me two Sundays before I was to move home and told me she had one extra ticket to the bronco's game, and her favorite player was in town (Andrew Luck). I told her I would go to the game with one condition, that she would have to go on a date with me after the game, she hesitantly agreed. That football game and date turned into the best afternoon and evening of my life and the beginning of the journey we find ourselves continuing today.
